Jerilyn has been teaching the participants of this program sewing and crocheting for the past two years. Jerilyn taught a cooking class as well. Jerilyn provided a detailed syllabus and explained it in detail. Not only does she explain each subject, but she also provides demonstrations, and practice for each participant. She also would walk around, and make sure everyone understood what is involved with sewing. Along with explaining sewing is a life skill, and not just a hobby. In fact, because of her teachings, some of the participants have begun sewing and mending their own clothes. She has a willing spirit, and anytime I needed her or her husband Robert to stand in the gap for me, they were always willing to help. She would be a great asset to the students and the university. January 15, 2023 To whom it may concern, My personal experience with having Mrs. Ward as an instructor has been nothing short of amazing. She is an instructor that truly cares about her students on a personal level and is very passionate about what she does. Mrs. Ward is very patient and detailed which is extremely helpful when it comes to learning a new craft. In her sewing course I learned the basics of sewing, and how to construct garments with both a sewing machine and by hand. I’ve also taken her fashion course which taught me about fabrics, textures, colors, how to read a pattern, how to construct my own patterns, how to create a mood board, influences of fashion, detailed garment constructing, upcycling garments, writing an effective resume, creating a portfolio, how to put together a successful collection, branding, and how to create a name for yourself as a fashion designer.
